After A Tribe Called Quest honored late member Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor with a politically charged performance at Sunday night's Grammy Awards (Feb. 12), new material from the Five-Foot Assassin has surfaced, as well as the title for his upcoming posthumous album.
Premiering on Okayplayer, the LP's smooth new single "Wanna Dance" features Phife's "What Profit" remix collaborators Dwele and Mike City. The song also finds the rapper waxing poetic about his lady's assets: "Body shine like Jacob Bling/ I’m drawn to that Lisa Raye smile/ Plus the way you rock that toe ring/ Finer than a month of spring."
The outlet also notes that versions of "Wanna Dance" -- one includes Dwele as the lead artist -- will appear on the singer’s Same Book…New Chapter and Phife Dawg’s upcoming full-length Forever. The song follows Phife Dawg's previously released "Nutshell," produced by the late J Dilla. Dion "Rasta Root" Liverpool and Ronald "Ron E." Estill will serve as executive producers for Forever, which is slated for an early 2017 release, according to Phife Dawg's wife, Deisha Taylor.
The Queens-bred rapper died in March of 2016 due to complications from diabetes.
