Soulja Boy Officially Charged With Felony Gun Possession
Soulja Boy was charged on Monday (Jan. 23) for illegally possessing firearms, according to a release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The rapper, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested last December for violating parole after authorities allegedly found guns in his home. One weapon is said to be stolen from a Huntington Beach police vehicle.
Per the release, Soulja Boy faces one felony count each of possession of an assault weapon, a Mini Draco AR-IS; unlawful firearm activity; felon in possession of a firearm, Glock 21 .45 caliber; and one misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property, a Glock 21 handgun.
If convicted, the rapper faces more than four years in prison, which could put a damper on his forthcoming boxing match with Chris Brown. The arraignment is scheduled for today (Jan. 23) while the case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
